WEIGHT LOSS AFTER OPERATION
You start to lose weight immediately and the loss is rapid in the first six months , continuing at a slower rate for the next 18 to 24 months , which is when we consider that it stabilises.

Weight loss , be it rapid or more leisurely , is different for different people ; younger  and more active people tend to lose more weight than older  and less active people. The subsequent weight loss is hard to predict exactly ; statistically , our patients tend to have lost between 75 and 80 % of their excess weight two years after the operation . This surpasses the best results obtained with other techniques for bypass surgery for obesity , as well as the bilio-pancreatic bypass ( 70-75% ) , other gastric bypasses ( 60-65% ) , and the vertical gastroplast and adjustable gastric bands ( 50-55%
